Design your own character
This workshop is aimed at participants who already have some experience in digital drawing and are familiar with the basics of the programmes. Knowledge of classical drawing and/or painting is an advantage.
At the beginning of the workshop, the focus is on figure studies. You will be shown and explained the principles of drawing figures. You will then create your own miniature drawings of figures.
You will go on to study different animals and their anatomy. You will learn to recognise and work out the animal features that are important for a character design. After some practice, you will merge different animals together and develop your own fantasy figures.
You will bring one of your designs to life during the workshop. This includes the colour design, the view from different perspectives, typical gestures and facial expressions, possible gadgets and the background story.
At the end of the workshop, the participants present their characters and we discuss the process and further potential.
