For this workshop you should have a good knowledge of drawing as well as the basics of oil painting. It is also recommended that you have already worked from a real model. If this is still unfamiliar to you, it would be easier to start by drawing from a model.
In this workshop you will learn the most important basics of nude painting in oil from a real model. We will start with an introduction to human anatomy. An understanding of bones and muscles will help you to understand and transfer the model. You will also learn about reliable anchor points to help you transfer the correct proportions.
After a few exercises, we then turn to the topic of color theory. Here we will focus in particular on creating a palette for skin tones. You will learn which colors are generally suitable for nude painting and should not be missing from your palette.
Most of your time, you will spend painting directly from the model. Step by step, our instructors will guide you through the process. Interspersed theory blocks allow you to better understand the process and help you achieve your goal: to paint a nude study that is as similar as possible to the model.
