This workshop is intended for participants with little or no previous knowledge. Have you always wanted to paint with oil paints but were unsure until now? Then this workshop is a safe and easy way to familiarize yourself with this medium.
We will start with an introduction to the materials. In art supply stores and online, you are literally overwhelmed by the variety of products, different media, brushes and painting surfaces. But what do I need to start with, what should I look out for and what do I need what for? We clarify all these questions at the beginning of the workshop.
After this introduction, it's learning by doing. Using two exercises in black and white (also known as grisaille), you will learn how to mix colors, apply them correctly and create transitions. These first exercises are deliberately kept simple to familiarize yourself with the materials and to understand and apply the painting process.
The course then continues with an introduction to cold and warm colors. You will learn how and where to perceive, mix and apply cold and warm colors. Two more colors are added to the palette. A controlled and gradual expansion of the palette with just a few colors helps you not to lose track. The theory is put into practice by painting your own small still life.
