This workshop is aimed at participants who already have some knowledge of digital drawing. The workshop ideally follows on from our Digital Drawing Basics workshop and can either be held at a later date or directly after it. Knowledge of classical drawing and/or painting is an advantage.
At the beginning of the workshop, the focus is on understanding the Anatomy of the face . We will draw the skull from many view points to understand the structure of the head.
Next, we'll over lay those skulls on different reference materials to further understand the underlying structure . When comfortable we'll work on drawing small heads from reference, creating tonal studies for them and then eventually color studies.
We will explore portraits with different expressions and explore some stylization techniques. The final project is a well rendered portrait by the participant of a reference material of their choice.
At the end of the workshop, the participants present their portraits and we discuss the process and further potential.
